Linfield blanked at Point Loma Nazarene

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Wildcat men's tennis was blanked 7-0 Thursday afternoon at the hands of the Division-II Point Loma Nazarene Sea Lions.
 
It was the first ever meeting between Linfield (3-7, 2-2) and Point Loma (8-5, 0-0), a member of the Pacific West Conference.
 
DOUBLES
The Sea Lions swept their way through doubles, earning the lone team point up for grabs by taking at least two out of three flights, in accordance with D-II scoring rules.
 
At No. 1 singles Point Loma's Matt Melosch and David Strassburger beat Seth Lee and Rogue Stone 6-1. At No. 2 singles, Cameron Paulsen and Haven Hepton put up a strong effort, but were outlasted by Nabeel Khan and Elias Weeks 6-4.
 
Point Loma clinched the doubles sweep with Andrew Suver and Lukas Schuster beating Matous Young and Alexander Rosenqusit 6-1.
 
SINGLES
The Sea Lions quickly added to their lead with a win at No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-0, by Weeks over Hepton to open solo action.
 
Shortly after, Melosch beat Rosenquist 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles before Point Loma clinched victory on the match at No. 4 singles with Schuster besting Paulsen 6-1, 6-1.
 
At the top of the ladder, Lee mustered three games off Suver but ultimately fell 6-2, 6-1. At No. 2 singles, Stone managed to take four off of Strassburger, but lost 6-3, 6-1.
 
At No. 6 singles Cody Pickar fell to Finn Kirschner 6-0, 6-2.
 
NEXT
Linfield returns to Oregon Friday before heading up to Tacoma, Wash. on Easter Sunday, March 31 to resume Northwest Conference action and face the Puget Sound Loggers (0-8, 0-3) at 10:00.
 
The 'Cats then visit Pacific in Forest Grove on April 6 before wrapping up the regular season at home against Lewis & Clark on April 13.
