STEVENS POINT, Wis. – A trio of Wildcat sophomores won matches Friday at the NCAA Upper Midwest Regional, all collecting pins.
 
Heavyweight Jacob Barnes pinned two straight opponents to make it to the quarterfinals, and Jacob Moore at 133 pounds and Darrius Walker at 184 pounds each pinned one opponent. It's only Linfield's second year with NCAA men's and women's programs, so the roster is largely made up of underclassmen.
 
Barnes opened his tournament with quick pins over Cam Mercer of Concordia University (Wis.) and Colin Jackson of Wheaton (Ill.), before dropping a pair of matches to end his season with a 26-4 record. His Linfield career record stands at 56-8, after he redshirted for one season at Oregon State.
 
Moore and Walker each pinned opponents from Lakeland University (Wis.). Moore pinned JJ Littles in 1:04, and Walker dramatically won by fall over Nidal Farah in 4:59 – with a single second left on the clock in the second round.
 
Some of the other Wildcat losses were close and came down to the wire. Jakob Jarvis ended his season with a 4-2 loss to Pacific's K'den McMullin at 157, Brian Walker lost 3-1 to Joseph Spizzirri of Wisconsin-Oshkosh at 165, and Ethan Ensrud fell to Wheaton's Jacob Kraker 12-9 at 174.
