NEWBERG, Ore. – Linfield was defeated by George Fox 3-1 (25-17, 16-25, 15-25, 23-25) in a Northwest Conference matchup on Friday night at the Wheeler Sports Center. The Wildcats fought hard throughout, but a strong performance by George Fox in the later sets secured the win for the home team.
Linfield started the match strong, claiming the first set 25-17 behind strong performances from
Marina Erosa and
Madison Millard, who each contributed throughout the match. Erosa finished with 14 kills and eight digs, while Millard had 13 points, including a block, in an impressive effort. The Wildcats, however, struggled to maintain their momentum in the subsequent sets, falling 16-25 in the second and 15-25 in the third.
Despite the setbacks, Linfield showed resilience in the fourth set, keeping the score tight up until the final moments. Kills from Erosa and
Journey DePonte kept the match competitive, but George Fox was able to capitalize on key errors and ultimately secured the victory with a 25-23 win in the final set. DePonte finished the match with seven points, and
Nora Myre added 12 digs in a solid defensive showing.
The Wildcats were also led by
Kanoe Contreras, who tallied 21 assists and 12 digs.
Pi'ilani Hirahara and
Kaitlyn Hough each contributed with significant assists and defensive efforts, while Pi'ilani also posted three digs.
George Fox's Gracie Bearden led all players with 21.5 points and 19 digs, while Addison Robertson added 15 points and three blocks.
