George Fox tops Linfield in four sets

NEWBERG, Ore. – Linfield was defeated by George Fox 3-1 (25-17, 16-25, 15-25, 23-25) in a Northwest Conference matchup on Friday night at the Wheeler Sports Center. The Wildcats fought hard throughout, but a strong performance by George Fox in the later sets secured the win for the home team.

Linfield started the match strong, claiming the first set 25-17 behind strong performances from Marina Erosa and Madison Millard, who each contributed throughout the match. Erosa finished with 14 kills and eight digs, while Millard had 13 points, including a block, in an impressive effort. The Wildcats, however, struggled to maintain their momentum in the subsequent sets, falling 16-25 in the second and 15-25 in the third.

Kills from Erosa and Journey DePonte kept the match competitive, but George Fox was able to capitalize on key errors and ultimately secured the victory with a 25-23 win in the final set. DePonte finished the match with seven points, and Nora Myre added 12 digs in a solid defensive showing.

The Wildcats were also led by Kanoe Contreras, who tallied 21 assists and 12 digs. Pi'ilani Hirahara and Kaitlyn Hough each contributed with significant assists and defensive efforts, while Pi'ilani also posted three digs.
