SPOKANE, Wash. – Despite a valiant defensive effort, the Linfield Wildcats were unable to overcome an early deficit, falling 2-0 to Whitworth on Saturday at Whitworth Soccer Field.
The Pirates opened scoring in the 19th minute when Jordan Voigt connected on a header off a corner kick from Dominic Gusman, threading it into the right side of the net. Whitworth extended their lead just 10 minutes later as Beckett Arthur capitalized on a saved attempt, firing a low shot into the bottom right corner for his third goal of the season.

Jacob Toves kept the Wildcats within striking distance, making six saves, four of which came in a busy first half. The Wildcats' defense weathered consistent pressure, limiting Whitworth to four shots in the second half and holding them scoreless after the early goals.
Offensively, Linfield generated 10 shots, with three on target.

Tate Bliss each managed shots on goal, but Whitworth's Aiden Chase turned them away in the shutout.

Linfield, now 2-12-2 overall and 1-9-2 in Northwest Conference play, will look to regroup as they head home for their next conference game. Whitworth improved to 8-6-2 on the season and 6-4-2 in conference competition.
