MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – The Linfield Wildcats and Puget Sound Loggers fought to a 1-1 draw in a tightly contested match on Sunday afternoon at Linfield Soccer Complex. Both teams entered with matching overall records,
Linfield opened the scoring in the 26th minute when
Lena Caballero Uhtoff found the net off an assist from
Ava Vargas-Quiroz, marking her first goal of the season. Linfield managed three shots on goal throughout the match, with Caballero Uhtoff,
Jordan Stoner, and
Riley Omonaka all testing Puget Sound goalkeeper Gianna Maldonado, who finished with two saves.
Puget Sound ramped up the pressure in the second half, launching 10 of their 14 total shots after the break. Linfield goalkeeper
Alexa Fritz stood tall, making eight saves, several of which came in the closing minutes. However, Puget Sound equalized in the 83rd minute when Amelia Guasco capitalized on an assist from Sydney Boyd.
The Wildcats matched Puget Sound with three corner kicks each, but the physical nature of the game was evident as Linfield committed seven fouls compared to the Loggers' four. Linfield's
