Linfield stumbles against Puget Sound’s efficient offense

MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – Linfield dropped a 3-0 decision to Puget Sound on Friday night at Ted Wilson Gymnasium. The Wildcats put up a tough fight, but the Loggers' efficient attack proved too much to overcome, as Linfield lost 25-19, 25-22, and 25-14.

Puget Sound's offense clicked with a .299 hitting percentage, led by Erin Fagan, who recorded 10 kills on 21 swings, hitting .476. Maddie Badger added seven kills, hitting .286, while Sarah Johnsen contributed five kills with a .222 percentage.

Linfield's attack was led by Nora Myre, who tallied a team-high 13 kills to finish with a .111 hitting percentage. Madison Millard and Kaitlyn Hough each chipped in three kills. Despite the Wildcats' best efforts, they struggled to find consistency offensively, posting a .035 hitting percentage for the match.

In the back row, Paige Richards led the Wildcats with 13 digs, while setter Kanoe Contreras dished out 13 assists and added two service aces. Pi'ilani Hirahara contributed with seven digs and a service ace.

Despite a close second set where Linfield pulled within three points late, the Wildcats couldn't sustain the momentum as Puget Sound's offense wore them down in the third set, leading to a decisive 25-14 win to close out the match.
