MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – Linfield fell 3-1 to George Fox in its 2024 homecoming match Friday night at the Linfield Soccer Complex.
Both offenses got off to hot starts Friday night with all four goals coming in the first half. Linfield took an early lead just under two minutes into the match. Defender
Keegan Brooks found the back of the net after an assist from
Evan Stafford and
Cameron Gaines, putting the Wildcats up 1-0.
However, George Fox responded quickly, with Harrison Emert equalizing in the 13th minute, assisted by Joshua Chang and Issac Wilson. Isaac Williams then pushed George Fox ahead with a goal at the 30th minute, assisted by Kellin Aguiar. Emert sealed the game for George Fox with his second goal in the 44th minute, giving the Bruins a 3-1 lead at halftime.
The Wildcats were led by Brooks who tallied three shots while
E.J. Sablan had two.
Sam Haynes and
Cameron Gaines each added one shot to the Wildcats' seven total shots. Brooks,
Jacob Toves,
Aedan Carroll,
Radule Bozovic and
Evan Stafford played all 90 minutes of Friday's match.
Despite several second-half attempts, Linfield was unable to convert, with George Fox's goalkeeper, Justin Huttinger recording four saves. Linfield goalkeeper
Jacob Toves finished with six saves. The loss brings Linfield's record to 2-10-0 overall and 1-7-0 in conference play.
