McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Linfield (1-1-1) couldn't find the offense to match visiting North Central (3-1-0) at the Linfield Soccer and Lacrosse Complex on Friday evening in McMinnville. The Cardinals defeated the Wildcats 5-0 with four goals coming in the first half.
Linfield fired six shots with two landing on goal and
Amalia Tufts leading the way with two shots of her own.
Jocelyn Jacobs was the only other Wildcat to record a shot on goal. Nine of the 14 shots for North Central were on goal. The Wildcats finished even with the Cardinals on corner kicks at four a piece.
In the opening 15 minutes, Sarah Andrey and Elle Sutter combined for the first two North Central goals. The Cardinals added two more, as Jordan Lange scored in the 23rd minute and Sutter netted another six minutes later.
A few minutes into the second half, Linfield goalkeeper
Alexa Fritz and Sutter collided, and Fritz took the brunt of the collision and was replaced due to an injury.
In addition to her two first-half assists, Madison DeVriendt added North Central's last goal in the 68th minute.
