Linfield loses in three to Loras, bounces back against Wells

FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Linfield (2-3) volleyball kicked off the first day of a two day tournament at Pacific University's Stoller Center facing Loras (3-2) Friday morning and Wells (3-1) later in the afternoon. The Wildcats opened with a loss in straight sets to the Duhawks, but bounced back with a 3-0 win against the Express.
 
Match 1: Loras 3, Linfield 0
The ball fell Loras' way with the Duhawks earning the sweep, 25-21, 25-19, 25-22.
 
Linfield totaled 31 kills, 35 digs, 30 assists and seven serving aces. Freshmen Katelin Sindelar and Nora Myre led the Wildcats with nine and seven kills,  respectively. Paige Richards finished with 10 digs for the 'Cats defense.
 
Loras finished with 42 kills, 48 digs, 38 assists and four blocks. Autumn Finch finished with nine kills and teammates Sophie Younkin and Alexis Woltman each finished with eight. Sara Hoskins tallied a game high 30 assists for the Duhawks.
 
Match 2: Linfield 3, Wells 0
Linfield's offense powered them past Wells in straight sets 25-22, 25-19, 25-17.
 
The Wildcats topped double digit kills in every set, finishing with 10 more total kills than the Express with 38. Linfield also finished ahead in digs (36-33), assists (36-25) and aces (11-6). Claire Johnson dished 27 assists and Ryli Kalahiki led the Wildcats offense with 10 kills. Richards had another strong game defensively adding 12 more digs.
 
Miah Williamson led the Express in kills with nine and aces with four. Ellie Te finished right behind Williamson with eight kills also adding two blocks.
 
NEXT
The Wildcats are back on the floor Saturday, playing their first games at Ted Wilson Gymnasium when they host McMurry at 12:30 p.m. and West Coast Baptist at 5:30 p.m.
