Katie Phillips Gold Glove 4

Katie Phillips receives inaugural Gold Glove Award

Linfield University All-American Katie Phillips added another significant honor to her lengthy list of accolades on Thursday. The senior left fielder from Tustin, California, was honored for her stellar defensive play with a Rawlings Gold Glove Award.

Phillips played flawless defense during the Wildcats' record-breaking 2023 season, recording 97 putouts and four assists without a single error.

Her efforts helped Linfield roll to a 46-4 overall record. With Phillips in the lineup, the Wildcats won the Northwest Conference regular-season and championship-tournament titles, and prevailed at the McMinnville Regional and Super Regional playoffs to advance to this week's NCAA Division III Championship in Marshall, Texas, for the first time since 2015.

Nine Gold Glove Awards were presented for the first time by the National Fastpitch Coaches Associating on Thursday. The awards are sponsored by the Rawlings Sporting Goods Company.

Phillips is the lone player among the nine honorees to still be competing in the NCAA Division III Championship.

Joining Phillips on the Gold Glove lineup card are East Texas Baptist University shortstop Tristen Maddox, Haley Leimbach of Tufts at first base, New York University junior Margaux Lesser at second, and Wooster freshman Julia Jennings at third. Guilford junior Grace Calus is the Gold Glove center fielder, with Phillips in left and Gustavus Adolphus sophomore Greta Dahlen in right. Tufts junior Sophia DiCocco is the honoree at pitcher, while Wisconsin-Oshkosh sophomore Sophie Wery was chosen at catcher.
