All-NWC LAX 4

Miller leads Linfield trio on All-NWC Lacrosse Team

Linfield ushered in a new era of lacrosse under first-year head coach Sarah Dalsey. The Wildcats (3-11, 3-9 NWC) sent out a young roster in 2023 but have key pieces to build around as three players were named to the All-Northwest Conference Lacrosse Team, released Tuesday.

Two of the three Linfield selections were first-time all-conference honorees. Freshman Grayce Miller led the trio as one of five First Team All-NWC defenders. Fellow freshman Gabby Crist and senior Elena Kroll rounded out the group as honorable mentions.

Miller led the NWC with 2.64 caused turnovers per game, finishing her freshman season with 37 to go with 35 ground balls, two goals and an assist. The San Diego, California, native caused a season-high five turnovers on three occasions.

Crist carried most of the load for the Wildcats on attack. The breakout player from Lake Oswego ranked in the NWC's top 10 with 41 goals, 86 shots and 63 draw controls. She dished out 10 assists for a total of 51 points. Crist was named the NWC Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week on March 13 after notching a season-high eight goals while adding two assists in a 13-10 home win over Puget Sound.

Kroll earned her second all-conference nod at defender in her senior campaign. She landed on the Second Team as a sophomore in 2021. The Hood River product tallied 20 ground balls, 13 caused turnovers and 27 draw controls. She scored the first three goals of her career and had two assists on the attacking side of the field.

The NWC champion George Fox Bruins took home three of the four major awards. Marena Tharpe was named the Defensive Player of the Year while Ava Bluhm earned Rookie of the Year honors. The Bruins' Katie Brand claimed her second straight Coach of the Year award. Madeleine Sherry of Whitman assumed the throne as the Offensive Player of the Year.
