One of the top teams in the Northwest Conference is also one of the smartest as Linfield landed four players to the 2023 NCAA Division III Academic All-District Women's Tennis Team, announced Tuesday by the College Sports Communicators.
Â
Linfield led the NWC with its four selections to the Academic All-District Team. Representing the Wildcats are seniors,
Taryn Fujimori,
Lexie Matsunaga and
Allena Wong, and junior
Sarah Forester. Puget Sound was right behind with three honorees while Whitworth and Willamette had two apiece.
Â
Fujimori and Wong both hail from Mililani, Hawaii. A fifth-year senior, Fujimori is working toward a degree in public health while Wong is majoring in accounting with a minor in management. A biochemistry and molecular cell biology major, Matsunaga also represents the Aloha State from Aiea. She earned the SAAC Academic All-Star award in 2022. A Corvallis native, Forester is studying biochemistry and health and human performance.
Â
The Linfield foursome carried the Wildcats to a respectable 12-3 overall record, including a 7-1 mark in NWC play. Fujimori and Matsunaga were two of eight players named to the All-NWC First Team. Wong and Forester were picked as second-teamers.

The CSC Academic All-District Women's Tennis Teams recognize student-athletes for their success on the court and in the classroom. Linfield's four honorees will advance to the Academic All-America ballot. The three Academic All-America teams will be announced June 1.
