Big road series ahead for 'Cats against first-place Boxers

SERIES PREVIEW

THE RECORDS
Linfield enters the series at 10-18 overall and 6-10 in Northwest Conference play. Pacific sits atop the conference standings at 18-9 overall with a 15-5 NWC mark.

LINFIELD AT A GLANCE
The Wildcats went on the road on Tuesday and beat NAIA Bushnell by a score of 9-7. It was their first win since Game 2 at Whitman on March 18. Branden Pasion batted leadoff for just the second time this season in the win. He's batting .358 with a .469 on-base percentage and 38 hits, all marks leading the team. Nick Holm leads the 'Cats with six home runs and 27 RBI in his breakout freshman campaign. Fellow freshman Casey Struckmeier has been the top pitcher in the rotation, entering the week with a 2.20 ERA. He threw 5 1/3 scoreless innings and only allowed one hit against College of Idaho on April 2.

PACIFIC AT A GLANCE
The Boxers have won three straight games, sweeping a doubleheader at Lewis & Clark on Saturday and opening the week with a 10-3 rout of George Fox at home on Tuesday. CJ Colyer leads the Boxers in batting average (.418), slugging percentage (.773), hits (46), doubles (12) and RBI (36). Ty Yukumoto has started in all 27 games, matching Colyer's 46 hits. Colyer, Isaac Lovings and Andrew Thomas all have nine homers on the year. Will Clark is 4-2 on the mound with 39 strikeouts and a 2.89 ERA in eight starts.

THE SERIES
Linfield has historically dominated the all-time series with Pacific. The Wildcats are 147-50 against the Boxers, averaging 6.52 runs per game. Linfield is 67-29 in Forest Grove. Pacific has turned the tides, however, taking 13 of the last 17 meetings.

The Boxers took two of three games in last year's series in McMinnville. Linfield won in the second round of the NWC Tournament, but the Boxers bounced back to beat the 'Cats twice on Championship Sunday.
