Linfield wins 6 individual events, 4 relays at Rich Allen Classic

NEWBERG, Ore. – With the temperature cracking the 60-degree plateau, it was a good day for Linfield track and field athletes to turn in season-best performances.
 
Saturday afternoon at the Rich Allen Classic at George Fox's Stoffer Family Stadium, the Linfield men's and women's squads achieved a rare feat of sweeping all four relays. Five Wildcats recorded first-place marks in six individual events.
 
WOMEN
Kenzie Feinglas continued her early season dominance with victories in the 100-meter dash (12.69) and 200 dash (25.89). Feinglas also teamed with Hillary Connors, Rachelle Silis, Addie Klindt to win the 4x100 relay in 49.40.
 
Mary Sturley looked solid in the 800 run, timing 2:31.87 to place third. Jennifer Torres-Bermudez (18.43.15) and Makayla Erickson (18:45.49) went 3-4 in the 5,000. Sills captured fourth place in the 400 in 1:01.24.
 
In the jumps, freshman Logan Roberts earn second place in the high jump with a leap of 5-0¼. Roberts also sewed up fourth place in the long jump with a mark of 15-8¼. Siera Crawford placed third in the pole vault (10-0).
 
The women's 4x400 relay, made up of Jordan Hayes, Torres-Bermudez, Silis and Feinglass, claimed the top spot with a time of 4:07.40.
 
MEN
Chandler Morris blazed to a 50.06 clocking in the 400, winning the event by nearly a half-second. The Wildcat senior was also second in the 200 (22.92).
 
Ronan Krutzikowsky won the 400 hurdles in 57.93, more than a second faster than runner-up Connor Hatch of George Fox's time of 59.02.
 
Dylan Jackson took second place in the 100 (11.26) while Evan Fisette was fourth (11.37). Jevon Cloy was the runner-up in the 110 hurdles race in 16.10. Alex Oathout placed second in the 1,500 in 4:06.40, a split second behind Willamette's Will Hennum's time of 4:06.08.
 
In the field events, Jacob Slifka was the top finisher in the discus with a mark of 160-11. In the javelin, Zach Young and Matt Metcalf dueled one another for top honors. Young emerged as the winner with a heave of 190-3, a little more than two feet better than Metcalf's mark of 187-10. Nick Olsen was runner-up in the shot put, throwing 47-8.
 
The men's 4x400 relay, consisting of Morris, Jackson, Krutzikowsky and Calvin Cahill clocked 3:34.44 to win the event. The 4x100 foursome of Morris, Jackson, Krutzikowsky and Des Phillips also prevailed, crossing the finish line in 43.43.
 
NEXT
Linfield heads to Salem next Saturday to compete in the Willamette Invitational. The meet begins at 10 a.m. at Bush's Pasture Park.
