Slifka, Young and Feinglas shine at Lane Open

EUGENE, Ore. – Jacob Slifka and Zach Young each moved up a few rungs on their respective career Top 10 lists and collectively the Linfield Wildcats turned in solid results at the Lane Community College Open on Saturday. Kenzie Feinglas scored a pair of individual victories in the sprints and was a member of two runner-up relay squads.

As a team, the Linfield men scored 50 points to finish third among four-year collegiate programs. The Wildcat women placed third among competing four-year colleges with 84 points.
 
MEN
Slifka tossed the discus 158 feet, 3 inches to take top honors in a field of 22 competitors. The mark was a new career best for Slifka, who climbed to No. 3 on Linfield's Top 10 ladder.
 
Young turned in a remarkable effort in the javelin, heaving the spear 196-0 to place fourth overall. His mark vaulted the sophomore from Monroe, Oregon, to No. 6 on Linfield's all-time javelin list.
 
On the track, Bradley Kiltow claimed third place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:20.05.
 
Calvin Cahill was runner-up in the 800, crossing the finish line in 1:59.99. He was the top collegiate finisher in a field stacked with unattached and club contestants.
 
The 4x100 relay, comprised of Des Phillips, Chandler Morris, Evan Fisette and Dylan Jackson took fourth place in 43.27.
 
Jackson and Morris both turned in season-best efforts in the 200. Jackson placed fifth in 22.36 while Morris was seventh in 22.91.
 
Distance specialist Alex Oathout clocked 15:37.88 in the 5,000 to place fourth in a field of 14 entries.
 
WOMEN
Feinglas clocked 12.50 to win the 100 dash and also prevailed in 200 with a season-best effort of 25.59. Rachelle Silis turned in a personal record of 27.50 in the 200, placing seventh.
 
Linfield's 4x100 relay, consisting of Jordan Hayes, Addie Klindt, Rachelle Silis and Kenzie Feinglas placed second in 50.69 seconds, a substantial improvement over their previous best time of 51.25.
 
The Wildcats 4x400 relay also earned second place behind an unattached entry. The foursome of Hayes, Silis, Feinglas and Mary Sturley turned in a season-best time of 4:11.10. Sturley also captured sixth place in the 800 meters in a personal-best time of 2:29.14.
 
The 5,000 race included three Wildcats: Anna Frazier (second in 20:16.02), Jennifer Torres Bermudez (third in 20:16.11) and Makayla Erickson (fourth in 20:21.80).
 
In the field events, Logan Roberts and Siera Crawford went 3-4 in the high jump. Roberts leapt 5-1 while Crawford clear 4-10.
 
Crawford placed fourth in the pole vault with a mark of 10-4.
 
NEXT
Linfield is scheduled to compete in the Rich Allen Classic on Saturday, March 18, at Stoffer Family Stadium in Newberg. The first events begin at 10 a.m.
