MEQUON, Wis. – Linfield heavyweight Jacob Barnes, seeded No. 5 at the NCAA Upper Midwest Regional, pinned fourth-seeded Brett Schoenherr of Wisconsin-Platteville on Friday to advance to the semifinals of the 19-team regional championship. It was Barnes' second pin of the day, and his 17^th of the season. 

Barnes advances to Saturday's semifinals where the redshirt freshman from McMinnville will face top seed Tyler Kim, a two-time All-American from Augsburg University. 
 
Another Wildcat redshirt freshman, Micah Worthington at 149 pounds, also advanced to Saturday's placing rounds of the NCAA regional. Worthington collected two quick pins and dropped a close decision to No. 1 seed Jake Burford of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He moves on to the consolidation quarterfinals Saturday morning, where he will battle returning All-American Ryan Fleck from the University of Chicago.
 
True freshmen, Price Pothier at 174 pounds and Darrius Walker at 197, each went 2-2 on the day, advancing to within one match of the placing rounds. Both collected bonus points along the way, helping Linfield to a 12th-place team score despite only sending wrestlers in eight of 10 weight classes. 
 
Kellen Hanson, a freshman from Albany, won by major decision over Teagyn Ludwig of St. John's, and also came within one win of placing in the regional tourney.

Worthington and Barnes are slated to compete Saturday for a spot at the NCAA Division III Championships, March 9-10 in Roanoke, Va. The top three placewinners in each weight class move on to the NCAAs.
