Strong second half guides ‘Cats win over Knights

PORTLAND, Ore. – Cade Collins was one of four Linfield scorers to finish in double figures on Saturday night against Warner Pacific at C.C. Perry Gymnasium. The Wildcats' strong second-half performance guided them to their second win in back-to-back evenings, beating the Knights 72-59.
 
Collins finished with 18 points while Jackson Dupree finished with a 14-point and 10-rebound double-double. Garrett Callsen nearly had a double-double of his own with 14 points and nine rebounds. Chase Bennett added 10 points for Linfield (4-5, 0-2 NWC).
 
The 'Cats shot 42 percent on 66 attempts and knocked down 4-20 shots from behind the arc. Linfield outscored Warner Pacific 46-20 in the second half. The Wildcats also turned 10 Knights turnovers into 17 points.
 
Warner Pacific shot 36 percent on 63 shot attempts and made 7-28 threes. Matt Solomon led the Knights in scoring with 17 points while teammates Sean Johnson and Caleb Tyree-Morgan each added 15.
 
Johnson's 13 points fueled a 37-26 halftime lead for the Knights. Warner Pacific led by as much as 13 in the first 20 minutes and shot 48 percent compared to Linfield's 31 percent. The Wildcats only made two threes in the half and Collins paced the scoring with eight points.
 
The Wildcats clawed back to take a slim lead nearly halfway through the second half. In the final 10 minutes after both teams were locked at 46, the 'Cats outscored the Knights 26-13 to secure their second win in as many nights.
 
COMING UP
The Wildcats return to the gym on Dec. 16 when they travel to face Seattle Pacific.
