SPOKANE, Wash. – Linfield played its final match of the season on Saturday night in Spokane, Wash. The Pirates totaled at least 16 kills in every set on their way to a straight-set sweep over the Wildcats 18-25, 14-25, 12-25.
The Wildcats (8-15, 4-12) combined for 22 kills, on a .061 hitting percentage, 40 digs, 18 assists, one serving ace and three blocks.
Araeya Watanabe led the offense with seven kills with
Katelin Sindelar close behind with four.
Claire Johnson tallied 11 assists while
Nora Myre and
Paige Pa'aluhi tied for the team lead in digs with 10.
The Pirates led wire to wire in the opening set and totaled 16 kills in the frame to take the first set. Linfield battled Whitworth point for point until the Pirates claimed the second set on a 10-1 scoring run.
Whitworth scored eight of the first 10 points in the third set en route to a straight-sets victory. The Wildcats never combined for double-digit kills in a set.
Whitworth (15-9, 12-4) totaled 51 kills, on a .364 hitting percentage, 62 digs, 46 assists, three serving aces and six blocks.
Ella Jimenez led the Pirates with 14 kills with teammate Logan Spencer right behind with 12. Josephine Thompson tallied 26 assists while Taylor Miche posted a game-high 16 digs.
