Linfield University's Sam Haynes was recognized for his efforts on the field and off the field, earning 2023 College Sports Communicators NCAA Division III Academic All-District Men's Soccer Team, announced Tuesday.
 
The Portland, Ore., native is pursuing a major in sports management. Haynes appeared in all 20 matches for the Wildcats, earning a starting nod in 15. The sophomore tallied 1066 minutes, 24 shots, two goals and three assists.
 
Haynes' final goal of the season helped lift Linfield to a 3-2 victory over Puget Sound marking the first time the Wildcats topped the Loggers since 2010.
 
The minimum requirements for CSC nominations are a 3.50 GPA and playing in 80 percent of the team's contests.
 
Haynes was one of 12 Northwest Conference men's soccer players to be selected and will advance for consideration on the CSC Academic All-America ballot. Academic All-America honorees will be announced in December.
