'Cats pull away from Geoducks in second half

OLYMPIA, Wash. – Linfield made 13 threes and had four players finish with double-digit points in the season's first win over Evergreen State at Costantino Recreation Center. The Wildcats led by as much as 15 multiple times en route to a 95-84 win over the home Geoducks.
 
Cade Collins led the 'Cats with 20 points. Jake Downing (15) and Nick Tripaldi (13) each made four three-point shots and Jackson Dupree added 10 points. The Wildcats made half of their 66 shots and turned 16 Geoducks turnovers into 20 points. Linfield's bench outscored Evergreen State's 57-29.
 
Jayden Upshaw (20) and Daniel Thomas (16) led the scoring for Evergreen State (1-3). The Geoducks made 11 of their 23 three-point attempts and finished shooting 50 percent from the field on 62 shots.
 
The Wildcats separated in the final few minutes of the first half by going on a 7-0 scoring run. Tripaldi knocked down three shots from behind the arc in the first 20 minutes and Dupree added seven points while Downing chipped in six. Linfield held a 39-34 lead at halftime.
 
Linfield's five-point lead grew to 15 in the first seven minutes of the second half. The Wildcats continued to hold a double-digit lead through most of the half. Evergreen State came within eight in the final four minutes but the Wildcats staved off any hopes of a comeback by pushing the lead back up to double digits.

The 'Cats (1-2) return to the floor on Tuesday when they travel to face Western Oregon at 7 p.m.
