SPOKANE, Wash. – Linfield traveled to Spokane, Wash., for a Northwest Conference clash against Whitworth on Saturday afternoon at the Whitworth Soccer Field. The Pirates' one goal in the first half was the only difference after 90 minutes as the home side closed a 1-0 victory over Linfield.
The Wildcats finished with four shots, one on goal, four corner kicks and 16 fouls.
Emma Mulligan tallied a season-high six saves. Neither team received a yellow card.
Sofia Pietrok had Linfield's lone shot on goal while
Jocelyn Jacobs,
Ruby Lacktrup and
Jasmine Williams each added a shot.
Sidra Griffin and
Jenna Stanley played the full match for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats fired off two shots and totaled three corner kicks in the first 45 minutes. However, Emmy Moore's goal in the 30th minute gave the Pirates the lead.
Whitworth had four shots on goal in the second half trying to increase the lead but the Linfield defense didn't budge. The Wildcats were held to only two shots and couldn't muster an equalizer.
Whitworth (7-6-4, 7-5-1) finished with 13 shots, seven on goal, four corner kicks and nine fouls. Kylee Russell led the Pirates with three shots while three others were tied at two. Goalkeeper Kate Nelson finished with one save.
