McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Linfield's offense found more success than in its previous encounter with Puget Sound in mid-September. The Wildcats and Loggers each wanted to end the week on a high note and neither backed down in a five-set battle on Saturday night in Ted Wilson Gymnasium. The Wildcats grabbed the first and fourth sets while the Loggers snagged the other three to win 25-23, 21-25, 11-25, 25-21, 9-15.
The Wildcats combined for 47 kills, on a .075 hitting percentage, 69 digs, 45 assists, 13 serving aces and seven blocks.
Katelin Sindelar tied a career high in kills with 14 while
Ryli Kalahiki was close behind with 10.
Claire Johnson posted a game-high 40 assists and
Paige Richards led the defense with 22 digs
The Wildcats started red hot in the first set scoring eight of the first 10 points. The Loggers then found their form and erased an early six-point deficit but
Katelin Sindelar's seven kills guided the 'Cats to an opening set win.
The Loggers (13-5, 6-4) started the second set by scoring the first five points and didn't look back claiming the set win. Puget Sound totaled three blocks and four aces in the second frame.
11 errors plagued the Wildcats in the third set and the Loggers used it to their advantage taking the third set in controlling fashion. Puget Sound took an early lead in the fourth set but a 10-2 Linfield run gave the Wildcats a fourth set win.
The Loggers rode eight set kills to victory in the final set, closing the match.
The Loggers totaled 48 kills, on a .169 hitting percentage, 74 digs, 41 assists and 15 serving aces. Mackenzie Leith and Avery Allemann each finished with 11 kills. Logan Winn tallied 32 assists and led the team in digs with 14.
