Linfield opens second half against Pacific, George Fox

THE RECORDS
Linfield enters the week in a three-way tie for fourth place in the Northwest Conference standings with Willamette and George Fox. The Wildcats are 8-9 overall and an even 4-4 in NWC play. Pacific stands alone in third place at 12-5 overall with a 5-3 NWC mark. The Bruins also post a 4-4 record in league play and are 7-10 overall.
 
LINFIELD AT A GLANCE
The Wildcats rank No. 5 in the NWC in scoring defense, allowing 60.3 points per game. Janessa Yniguez scored a career-high 19 points with four three-pointers in a loss to Whitworth last week. She's averaging 6.1 points per game. Gillyan Landis leads the 'Cats with 10 points per game and is tied for fifth in the NWC with 7.6 rebounds per game. Jordan Worthington is second to Landis in scoring (6.7 PPG) and rebounding (3.9 RPG). Her 48.5 field goal percentage is good for fifth in the league.
 
PACIFIC AT A GLANCE
The Boxers' strengths lie in their defense and three-point shooting. They lead the NWC with 52.6 points allowed per game while also ranking No. 3 with a 30.6 three-point percentage. Brilie Kovaloff is averaging 16.4 points per game to rank second in the league. The team's leading rebounder is Danica Schmidt with 7.4 per game. Schmidt also leads the NWC with 27 blocks, 1.6 per game. Rilee Price is second to Kovaloff with 8.8 points per game and is up to 63 assists and 28 steals on the season.
 
GEORGE FOX AT A GLANCE
Jenna Lacey sunk two free throws with two seconds left in the game to lift the Bruins to a narrow 55-53 road win over Pacific. The Bruins completed a 2-0 week with a 60-46 win at Lewis & Clark. Lacey is averaging 6.8 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. The top scorer so far this season has been Erin Yoshitake with 8.5 points per game. In 14 starts, Alexa Borter has posted a 52.6 field goal percentage, ranking second in the NWC among qualified players.
 
HISTORY
Linfield is 39-42 in the all-time series with Pacific. The Wildcats are 22-17 against the Boxers at home. The 'Cats took nine of 10 meetings between the 2014-15 and 2020-21 seasons. Since then, the Boxers have rattled off six straight wins. The first-round matchup between the two teams ended in a 66-39 Pacific win on Dec. 3 in Forest Grove.
 
Linfield and George Fox have met 86 times in their Yamhill County rivalry. The Wildcats are 23-63 against the Bruins in the all-time series. The Bruins were riding a 29-game win streak dating back to the 2007-08 season. The 'Cats broke that streak this year in the first round of NWC action, winning 56-50 on Dec. 2 in McMinnville.
