Late pins by Walker and Barnes cap dual-match sweep

McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Linfield's Darrius Walker and Jacob Barnes claimed pins in the final two matches, rallying Linfield from a 10-point deficit and completing a dual-match sweep of Umpqua Community College and Grays Harbor College Thursday night at Ted Wilson Gymnasium.
 
Price Pothier collected a pair of individual victories at 174 pounds to highlight the Wildcats' final home match of the 2022-23 season.
 
LINFIELD 30, GRAYS HARBOR 28
Linfield's Jacob Moore pinned Hunter Arnett in 3:34 in the 125-pound weight class and the Wildcats' Kellen Hanson was awarded a forfeit victory at 133 to spot the home team a quick 12 points.
 
Grays Harbor responded with three straight pins of Linfield combatants. Together with a forfeit at 165 pounds, the Chockers assumed a 24-12 advantage.
 
Price Pothier picked up six important team points for Linfield at 174 pounds when Elijah Fisher was unable to complete the third round due to injury.
 
The Chockers earned a major decision at 184 pounds to stretch their lead to 28-18, but Walker (197) and Barnes (285) rallied the Wildcats with back-to-back pinfall, clinching the match in Linfield's favor.
 
LINFIELD 45, UMPQUA 10
Linfield took command of the match early on, benefiting from a pair of forfeits at the 125- and 133-pound weight classes. Jakob Jarvis scored a pin of UCC's Dylan Dahling at 141 and Josh Cox picked up a 7-2 decision over the Riverhawks' Omar Narruhn at 149 to extend Linfield's lead to 21-0. It was Cox's first on-mat victory as a collegian.
 
The Wildcats finished off the match with two more falls. Pothier pinned Josiah Green in 2:01 and Lucien Lefebvre scored a 51-second pin at 184.
 
Linfield received forfeits in the final two bouts, pushing the final score to 45-10.
