Linfield University women's soccer has announced its fall 2022 schedule. The team will play 20 matches with nine of those contests taking place in McMinnville at the Wildcats' new Soccer and Lacrosse Complex.
Steve Simmons enters the fourth year of his second tenure as head coach. The 2020 season was postponed to the spring of 2021 with an abbreviated schedule. The Wildcats return a combination of youth and veterans who have had years of experience in Simmons' system.
Four non-conference matches await Linfield at the beginning of the season. The 'Cats open the 2022 campaign at home, hosting Multnomah of the NAIA's Cascade Collegiate Conference on Sept. 1. They will then play at the CCC's Warner Pacific on Sept. 3 before taking a trip to Naperville, Illinois, for meetings with North Central on Sept. 9 and either Grove City or Centre on Sept. 10.
The 'Cats won't have a chance to ease into Northwest Conference play before playing the league's top two teams from 2021. They will play at Puget Sound on Sept. 17 and at Pacific Lutheran, the defending NWC champion, on Sept. 18. The first home NWC matches will be on Sept. 24 and Sept. 25 when the 'Cats play Willamette and Lewis & Clark, respectively. They will then play cross-county rival George Fox on Oct. 1 in Newberg before returning home to host Pacific on Oct. 2. Whitworth and Whitman come into town on Oct. 8-9 to wrap up the first round of NWC play.
Linfield completes a five-match homestand, opening the second half of NWC play against Puget Sound on Oct. 15 and Pacific Lutheran on Oct. 16. The 'Cats take the road in Oregon for matches at Willamette on Oct. 22 and Lewis & Clark on Oct. 23.
Senior Day features a big matchup with George Fox on Oct. 29. The 'Cats conclude their season with three straight matches on the road, playing at Pacific on Oct. 30, at Whitworth on Nov. 5 and at Whitman on Nov. 6.
