The Linfield University men's soccer team has announced its schedule for the upcoming 2022 fall season. The slate includes 19 matches, nine of them taking place at the Wildcats' new Soccer and Lacrosse Complex in McMinnville.
Â
Third-year head coach
Andrew Duvall got his first full season under his belt in 2021 after his first year at the helm was shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In a system that expects all players to keep each other accountable at practice and during matches, this young but talented Wildcat squad looks to stay competitive against the rest of the Northwest Conference.
Â
The 2022 season opens with five non-conference matches, starting at home for the season opener against Multnomah of the NAIA's Cascade Collegiate Conference on Sept. 1. The team will then hit the road for matches at Eastern Oregon on Sept. 3 and The College of Idaho on Sept. 5. The Wildcats will play on back-to-back days to close their non-conference schedule, hosting La Verne on Sept. 11 before playing at Lewis & Clark in the Pioneers' inaugural season on Sept. 12.
Â
The Wildcats will open NWC play in McMinnville, hosting the defending champion Lutes of Pacific Lutheran on Sept. 17 before hosting fellow Tacoma foe Puget Sound on Sept. 18. An away match at George Fox on Sept. 24 and a home contest against Pacific on Sept. 25 conclude the September schedule. Linfield ends the first half of NWC play with three straight matches on the road against Whitman on Oct. 1, Whitworth on Oct. 2 and Willamette on Oct. 9.
Â
Linfield will meet the eastern Washington schools right away to start the second half of NWC play. The 'Cats will welcome Whitworth to McMinnville on Oct. 15 before hosting Whitman on Oct. 16. They will make the short trip to Forest Grove to take on Pacific on Oct. 22 and will return home on Oct. 23 to finish the weekend against the rival Bruins of George Fox. The Tacoma road trip will be saved for last as the 'Cats will play at Puget Sound on Oct. 29 and at Pacific Lutheran on Oct. 30.
Â
The final match of the season for Linfield will be at home against Willamette on Nov. 5. That match will likely mark Senior Day for the program.Â
