TACOMA, Wash. – The Linfield men's tennis team picked up one doubles win and one singles win, but the Wildcats fell 7-2 to Pacific Lutheran Saturday afternoon at the Sprinker Rec Center.
Â
Rogue Stone won his No. 1 singles match over PLU's Michael Campbell, 6-3, 6-2.
Matous Young and
Cody Pickar were both competitive but lost on tiebreakers.
Alexandre Collard and
Abraham Solomon each fell 6-2, 6-2, while
Nick Gabelman lost 6-1, 6-1.
Â
The team of Pickar and Solomon won No. 3 doubles, 8-4, over the Lutes' Alex Richter and Drew Kraft. The duos of Stone and Young and Gabelman and
Isaac Milner both lost 8-6 in their respective doubles match.
"We lost the see-saw battles at No. 1 and 2 doubles which put us in a hole," said Wildcats coach
Ben Belletto. "Cody and Abe did a great job getting us on the board. We had opportunities, with winnable matches today but weren't any to quite put it together. Rogue played a complete match today, putting together what he's learned this season. Tomorrow is a new day.
