Wildcats return home to host Pirates in NWC action

SERIES PREVIEW

THE RECORDS
The Linfield baseball team is back at Roy Helser Field this weekend to host Whitworth in a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday. Action for both days begins at noon with live coverage on the Linfield Sports Network.

Linfield enters the week at 4-6 overall and an even 2-2 in NWC play. Whitworth stands at 2-11 with a 1-1 NWC mark. Both teams had games postponed last week due to weather.
 
LINFIELD AT A GLANCE
The Wildcats won 6-2 over Lewis & Clark in their only game last week. Junior Andrew Del Biaggio picked up his first win of the season on the mound, allowing two earned runs on three hits while striking out 12 in six innings of work. He is fifth in the NWC with 21 punchouts. Branden Pasion leads the team with a .345 batting average to go with 10 hits and six RBI. Cameron Skinner and Mike LaVigne have scored eight times apiece while Jackson Horner has eight RBI. Tanner Jacques is batting .317 with 13 hits.
 
WHITWORTH AT A GLANCE
The Pirates split their doubleheader with Whitman last week. Jacob Doughty leads the team with a .296 batting average and has collected eight hits. Jaxsen Sweum has tallied a team-leading 10 hits to go with seven runs, five RBI and seven doubles. Dawson Warner has driven in six runs while scoring eight times. Dylan Owen owns a 2.70 ERA, allowing two earned runs in four relief appearances. Hunter Dryden is 1-2 in his four starts and has struck out 21 batters in 22 innings.
 
THE SERIES
Linfield and Whitworth have met 149 times. The 'Cats lead the series with a 95-54 record against the Pirates, including a 51-23 record at home. The 'Cats have won seven of the last 12 meetings, but the Pirates took three of four games in Spokane during the 2021 season.
