The long-awaited holiday men's basketball matchup between Linfield and Illinois Wesleyan on Thursday, December 30, has been canceled.

Flight disruptions spanning the Midwest and East Coast are to blame. The Titans were informed Tuesday that their scheduled flight to Oregon had been among the thousands of flights halted nationwide as a result of a severe winter weather system that engulfed much of the country over the Christmas holiday.

There remains a slim chance the game could be rescheduled to Sunday, January 1, providing Illinois Wesleyan is able to secure transportation to the Pacific Northwest by Saturday.

The Titans were also scheduled to face George Fox on their trip and the fate of that contest also remains in doubt.

Regardless, Linfield will resume Northwest Conference play at home on Tuesday when they host the Willamette Bearcats at 8 p.m.
