McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Strong efforts by a number of individuals could not carry the host Linfield Wildcats past the favored Southern Oregon Raiders in a dual wrestling meet Sunday afternoon inside Ted Wilson Gymnasium.

The SOU men scored five pins on the way to a 37-12 team victory. The Raider women capitalized on three pins and three forfeited weight classes to secure a 35-10 triumph.

MEN
Linfield's points came in the latter flights. Competing in the 174-pound weight class, Wildcat
Price Pothier fired up the crowd by pinning the Raiders' Jordan Faifai in 1 minute, 51 seconds. Pothier raised his season record to 3-2 with the win.

Lance Van Hoose then picked up a tight 5-4 decision over once-beaten Kabb Christiansen of SOU at 184 pounds. Van Hoose sits at 6-5 for the season.

Heavyweight
Jacob Barnes pushed his season record to 8-0 with a hard-fought 7-4 result over the Raiders' Antonio Garcia.

Another closely contested outcome occurred at 149 pounds, where
Micah Worthington was sadddled with a 7-4 setback at the hands of SOU's Aaron Gandara.

Still needing to find bodies to fill out all the weight classes, Linfield was forced to surrender 15 team points from the get-go. But the Wildcats did take a measure of satisfaction with individual victories by

Ayana Medina.

Fabela-Santos gave Linfield some early momentum with a pin of the Raiders Kyleigh Fradelis at the 2:48 mark of the 116-pound pairing. It marked the first win of the new season for Fabela-Santos, who is now 1-4.

Medina produced a 10-0 technical fall over the Raiders' Marissa Kurtz at 130 pounds. With the win, Medina ran her season record to 7-3.
