'Cats primed for big week against Bruins, Boxers

McMINNVILLE, Ore. – The Linfield men's soccer team is due for a big week, and that week may very well be upon the Wildcats as they host George Fox at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday before playing at Pacific on Sunday, also at 2:30 p.m.
 
THE RECORDS
Linfield enters the week with a 1-5-0 overall record and a 0-2-0 Northwest Conference mark. George Fox is 2-4-0 overall and 0-2-0 in NWC play while Pacific is 3-3-1 with a 0-1-1 conference mark. The Wildcats were picked sixth in the NWC Preseason Coaches Poll while the Bruins were picked seventh and the Boxers were picked eighth.
 
LINFIELD AT A GLANCE
The Wildcats are averaging one goal and nine shots per game and lead the Northwest Conference with 7.17 saves per game. Junior midfielder Romario Mendoza and junior forward Cesar Cruz-Espindola are tied for the team lead with two goals each. Freshman midfielder Seamus Miller ranks tied for seventh in the NWC with 2.17 shots per game. Sophomore goalkeeper Peyton Frazier is third in the conference with 3.60 saves per game and seventh with a 3.67 goals against average.
 
GEORGE FOX AT A GLANCE
The Bruins are averaging one goal and eight shots per game. Junior Kyle Revell leads the team with two goals in six appearances and one start. Senior Alex Muir is fifth in the Northwest Conference with 2.83 saves per game and a 1.67 goals against average.
 
PACIFIC AT A GLANCE
The Boxers are averaging 1.86 goals and 11 shots per game and rank fourth in the Northwest Conference with one assist per game. Freshman Cooper Sheakley is the team's leading scorer with three goals while fellow freshman Noah Edwards and senior Lucas Muller have two goals apiece. Edwards is second in the NWC with four assists. Freshman Zachary Aderinto is 2-1-1 in goal with 3.60 saves per game and a 1.54 goals against average, which ranks fourth in the conference.
 
HISTORY
Linfield and George Fox have met 52 times with the Wildcats leading the series with a 31-18-3 record. The 'Cats are 31-17-3 in Northwest Conference play and 12-10-2 at home. The teams split their season series in the spring. The Bruins won the first match in McMinnville, 1-0, but the 'Cats won the second meeting in Newberg, 1-0 in double overtime.
 
Linfield and Pacific have had 55 previous meetings with the Boxers leading the series at 28-22-5. The Wildcats own an 8-19-2 away record against the Boxers. The 'Cats won two of three meetings in the abbreviated spring season. The Boxers won the first meeting in Forest Grove, 1-0 in overtime, but the 'Cats bounced back to win the next two matches at home, 2-0 and 1-0.
