MONMOUTH, Ore. –
Alex Oathout and
Jennifer Torres Bermudez turned in top-20 performances to lead the Linfield Wildcats at the Ash Creek Collegiate cross country meet Friday night at Ash Creek Preserve adjacent to the Western Oregon University campus.

Oathout, competing in only second collegiate race, placed 15
th in a crowded field that included 10 teams and 101 runners. The Silverdale, Washington, native covered the flat and sprawling eight-kilometer course in 19 minutes, 20 seconds.

Three other Wildcats were among the top 50 finishers.
Calvin Cahill placed 40th in 20:08,
Bradley Kiltow was 47th in 20:19 and
John Christian clocked 20:27 to claim 50th place.

Calvin Ong competed in his first race in three years, taking 59th place in 20:41, and
Evan Kern was 62nd in 20:48.

Linfield's men placed sixth in the team standings.

In the six-kilometer women's race, Torres Bermudez was 25th in a field of 90 athletes. She finished in 15:29, just ahead of teammate
Makayla Erickson, who was 27th in 15:32.

Also turning in top-50 finishes were
Abby Grebisz, 34th in 16:00,
Kaylee Delzotti, 43rd in 16:11 and
Ashley Ambrose, 46th in 16:19.

As a team, Linfield's women were slotted fourth among seven competing teams.

Linfield takes the coming weekend off before returning to the same course Sept. 24 to compete in the Mike Johnson Classic.
