FOREST GROVE, Ore. ā After losing the last eight meetings to the Linfield Wildcats, the Pacific Boxers won 94-90 on Saturday night at the Stoller Center to hand Linfield its second loss of the season.

This was the final game of the 2021 spring season for the Wildcats, who finish with a record of 10-2, they lost their first and last game. The Boxers are now 3-7.

"We had an amazing run this season and really got a lot of joy and growth out of the experience," said coach
Shanan Rosenberg. "It's unfortunate it had to end this way, but it doesn't take away from the amazing moments we had together this year."

Pacific led by as many as 15 points in the first half and led 53-41 at the half. The Wildcats outscored the Boxers, 49-41 in the second half.

Carson Bonine hit a layup at the 9:15 mark in the second half to give Linfield a 69-68 lead, which was its first lead since the first half. Linfield led 77-75 with just over five minutes left, but Pacific went on an 8-0 run to lead 82-75.

The Wildcats were within two points with 10 seconds left thanks to a 3-pointer by
Max Lommen, but the Boxers hit both of their free-throws on the other end to win the game by four.

The leading scorer for the Wildcats in every game this season was
Dempsey Roggenbuck. He had 25 points, four rebounds and seven assists on Saturday night. Roggenbuck finishes the season with a scoring average of 29.7 points per game, which leads the Northwest Conference. Ā

Lommen scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Will Burghardt and
Aaron Baune scored 13 points each, both had four rebounds as well. Baune had four assists, Burghardt had two. Bonine added 10 points off the bench.

"Dempsey was again a force of fortune out there, Will, Carson and Max and Aaron did a terrific job of handling their press with only 8 turnovers," added Rosenberg.

The Boxers' leading scorer was Colin Rardin with 24 points, six rebounds and four assists. Mario Mora had 14 points and four rebounds. Brennen McNabb had 13 points.

Linfield shot season-low 44.4 percent from the field. The Wildcats committed 23 fouls with two players fouling out. The Boxers shot 52.5 percent from the field on Saturday night. They shot 31.7 percent in Friday night's 104-74 loss to the Wildcats.

"We didn't play very well tonight defensively for enough possessions, combined with our worst shooting night of the year made for a tough closing game," said Rosenberg.

"Give Pacific a lot of credit, similar to our Warner Pacific game, it's just a tough situation for any team to be in."

Saturday night was the final game for Burghardt and
Matt Berger, who had five points and six rebounds in his last game.

Burghardt finishes his career with 628 points, 208 assists and a career field goal percentage of 51.0.

Berger played 58 games in his career and started all 12 this season. He scored 167 points in his career and grabbed 179 rebounds.

Seniors Lommen and Roggenbuck will return to Linfield next season.
