MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – A layup by
Delaney Ragan with just over 30 seconds left gave the Linfield Wildcats a 52-50 win over the Pacific Boxers on Friday night at Ted Wilson Gym. It was the Wildcats' first win of 2021.
The Boxers took the lead with 59 seconds left in the game on a layup by Sydney Gray. The Wildcats answered right back with the layup by Ragan and extended their lead to 52-50 on a free throw by
Brooke Landis.
The game was tied at 17 at the half, Linfield restricted Pacific to four points in the second quarter and held off Pacific's 19-14 run in the fourth quarter.
Ragan came off the bench and had nine points and nine rebounds.
Jordyn Feinauer led the team with 11 points, she also had three assists and three rebounds.
Alexis Heald had nine points and three rebounds. Landis and
Shasta Lofgren had seven points, Lofgren had nine rebounds as well.
Nine of the 11 points for Feinauer came in the second half, Wildcats were 4 for 8 in 3-point attempts in the second half.
Paige LaFountain had four assists and three rebounds. Wildcats shot 58.3 percent in the third quarter, in the game they shot 34.7 percent from the field. Feinauer was 3 for 4 from beyond-the-arc. Wildcats led by as much as 13 points in the third quarter.
The defense restricted Pacific to a 3-point percentage of 23.1 and 36.1 percent from the field. Ragan, Landis and
Peyton Bergevin had two steals each. Ragan also had two blocks.
Camy Aguinaldo was the Boxers leading scorer with 14, she also had five rebounds. Brillie Kovaloff had 10 points and three rebounds. Sydney Gray had nine points and seven rebounds. Alexis Intong had eight points and nine rebounds.
Linfield picks up its first win of the season and is now 1-4 and 1-2 in Northwest Conference play. Pacific is 1-2 overall and in the NWC.
