Pios down the 'Cats in four

MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – In their first home match since November 9, 2019, the Linfield Wildcats fell 3-1 to the Lewis & Clark Pioneers on Friday night at Ted Wilson Gym. Pioneers took the first two sets 25-18 each, Wildcats won the third, 25-14 and Pios clinched the match with a 25-19 win in the fourth set.
 
Lewis & Clark takes the season opening series over Linfield. The Pioneers are 2-0 overall and in Northwest Conference play, the Wildcats fall to 0-2 overall and in conference play.
 
Lewis & Clark took the first two sets by the scores of 25-18. Izzy Willis led the Pioneers with 12 kills and Kelsey Parker, who was the team with three aces, had 10 kills.
 
Block leaders for the Pioneers were Makena Ohlmaier with three. Ka'anelaokapu'uwai Pakaki-Pias and Parker had two. Michelle McGinn had 27 assists and Pakaki-Pias was the digs leader with 15.
 
The Wildcats took the third set, 25-14. Raelynn Hammock had team-high 14 kills, Regan Dean had 12. Aylea Dixon and Hammock served up two aces each. Dixon and Ochse combined for two blocks and Dixon led the way with 27 assists.
 
Three Linfield players had double-digit digs: Tessa Doerfler (19), Raelynn Hammock (17) and Aylea Dixon (7).
 
The Pioneers closed out the match with a 25-19 win in the fourth set.
 
UP NEXT
Linfield is idle next week, before taking on Pacific for a home-and-home series. The Wildcats are in Forest Grove on March 18 and the Boxers come to McMinnville on March 19.
