FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Taking on the Pacific Boxers on the road at the Stoller Center on Thursday night, the Linfield Wildcats fell in straight sets by the scores of 23-25, 19-25 and 15-25.
The Boxers remain undefeated on the season with a Northwest Conference and overall record of 4-0, the Wildcats drop to 0-3 in NWC and overall.
A service ace by
Maya Nakasone gave the Wildcats a 20-18 lead in the first set, she had two in the match, but the Boxers closed out the set on a 7-3 run and won the set on a kill by Claire Stipsits, who had team-high 10 kills.
The Wildcats got to within 20-18 in the second set on a kill by
Raelynn Hammock, who led Linfield with 10 kills and has had double digit kills in every match thus far this season.
Aylea Dixon had 23 assists for the 'Cats.
Pacific pulled away in the third set on a 6-0 run that gave the Boxers a 18-9 cushion. They won the match on an attacking error by the Wildcats.
Nakasone had 10 digs in the match, Hammock had eight and Dixon had six. For the Boxers, Haley Walz lead the match with 12 digs, Stipsits had eight.
Hammock is averaging 3.64 kills per match, which leads the conference. Dixon's average of 6.1 assists per set is seventh. Hammock and Nakasone are in the top-15 in the NWC in digs per set with averages of 3.0 and 2.91 respectively.
Linfield's
Kara Thomas had six kills and
Seraiah Ochse had five kills.
Ellie Mead made her first career start on Thursday night and had five kills.
Zoie Warner played her first set as a Wildcat.
