Knights edge out the 'Cats, 72-70

MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – Alexis Heald scored 16 points for the Linfield Wildcats, who were edged out, 72-70 by the Warner Pacific Knights on Saturday at Ted Wilson Gym.

The Knights led by five at the end of the game, but Delaney Ragan hit a three-pointer at the buzzer and had a chance for a four-point play but missed the free throw. Ragan had 21 points, six rebounds, three assists, three blocks and two steals in the game.

Wildcats shot 60 percent in the third quarter and 62 in the fourth to outscore the Knights by eight in the second half. Ragan and Heald combined for 25 of the 41 points in the second half.

Heald was 8 for 10 from the field and had three assists. Brooke Landis was third on the team with nine points, she also had three rebounds, three assists and two assists. Paige LaFountain had seven assists, three rebounds, two steals and a block.

Shasta Lofgren had seven rebounds and three assists. Off the bench, Maggie Smith had nine points. Lynden Harry had 15 points and five assists for the Knights. Courtney Jackson had 14 and Gabriella Bruno had 12 points and five rebounds. Anna Farner had eight rebounds.

In the game, Warner Pacific shot 42.9 percent from the field, Linfield shot 47.5 percent. Wildcats had six blocked shots in the game.

Linfield has lost all four games this season and is 0-4. The Knights sweep the season series over the Wildcats and are 4-3 overall.

Linfield resumes the Northwest Conference schedule with two games against Pacific next week. The Wildcats are at home on Friday, April 2 and at the Boxers on Saturday, April 3.
