'Cats host Knights, Pointers to close non-conference schedule

THE RECORDS
Linfield enters the week at 6-3 overall and 2-0 in Northwest Conference play as the Wildcats wrap up their non-conference slate at home. The Wildcats face Warner Pacific Tuesday at 5 p.m. (rescheduled from 7 p.m.) and Wisconsin-Stevens Point Thursday at 2 p.m. Warner Pacific, a member of the NAIA's Cascade Collegiate Conference, enters at 8-4 overall and 4-1 in CCC play. Wisconsin-Stevens Point is 3-6 overall and 0-2 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Fans attending either game this week will be admitted free of charge. All standing COVID protocols will continue to apply and no food or beverages are permitted in the facility.
 
LINFIELD AT A GLANCE
The Wildcats rank third in the Northwest Conference with a 45.6 field goal percentage while also ranking fourth with 80.1 points per game. Senior guard Dempsey Roggenbuck leads the team in scoring with 20.2 points per game, connecting on 49.5 percent from the field, 34.4 percent from three-point range and 88.9 percent from the free throw line. Fellow senior guard Max Lommen is averaging 14.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game and leads the team with 27 assists. Senior forward Aaron Baune is averaging 13.7 points and 5.4 rebounds per game to go with a team-leading 13 blocks.
 
WARNER PACIFIC AT A GLANCE
The Knights are averaging 81.1 points and 35 rebounds per game, shooting 46 percent from the field and 37.6 percent from beyond the arc. Isaac Etter leads the team in scoring with 15.1 points per game to go with 3.1 rebounds per game. He leads the team with 34 three-pointers made. Tyrese Yussuf-Willis is averaging 12.5 points per game and leads the Knights with 52 assists and 13 steals. Drew Magaoay is also scoring in double figures with 11.1 points per game to go with a team-leading 5.3 rebounds per game.
 
WISCONSIN-STEVENS POINT AT A GLANCE
The Pointers are averaging 61.4 points per game, connecting on 38.1 percent of their shots. Garrett Nelson is the only player scoring in double figures with 15.9 points per game. He also leads the team with 27 assists and 14 steals. Zach Mootz is second on the team with 7.7 points per game, shooting 43.2 percent from the field. Peter Timmerman leads the team with 43 rebounds and 4.8 rebounds per game.
 
HISTORY
Linfield and Warner Pacific have met 35 times. The Wildcats lead the series with a 20-15 record over the Knights. The 'Cats are 12-6 against the Knights at home and have won three straight matchups. The 'Cats won both meetings in 2020-21 on back-to-back nights. They won 112-78 on Mar. 26 in Portland and then escaped with a 79-78 win on Mar. 27 in McMinnville.
 
This will be just the second meeting between Linfield and Wisconsin-Stevens Point. The Pointers took the first meeting 93-60 back in 2010 in Phoenix, Arizona.
 
LINFIELD COVID-19 PROTOCOLS
All individuals (age 12 and over) entering any athletics venue must provide proof of vaccination along with photo identification. Since all Linfield faculty, staff and students have completed this task in order to be on campus this fall, the Linfield individual must simply show their current Linfield ID.
 
Masks must be worn by all spectators at all times. Participants, including players, coaches, support staff and media on the sidelines, must wear masks throughout the duration of all athletic events, both indoor and outdoor, and during pregame and postgame activities.
