Wildcats' title defense begins against Loggers, Pioneers

THE RECORDS
Linfield opens Northwest Conference play with a 2-2 overall record after winning one of three games on its California road trip. Puget Sound enters the week at 3-4 overall while Lewis & Clark is 3-2. The Wildcats were picked to win the NWC title while the Loggers were tied for sixth and the Pioneers were tabbed fifth.
 
LINFIELD AT A GLANCE
The Wildcats are averaging 86.5 points per game and have three players averaging double figures. Senior guard Dempsey Roggenbuck, a D3Hoops.com Fourth Team Preseason All-American, is off to a hot start, scoring 20.5 points per game and shooting 46.4 percent from the field. Fellow senior guard Max Lommen is averaging 15.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game to go with 11 assists and 10 steals. Senior forward Aaron Baune is scoring 11.5 points per game while freshman Trey Bryant is settling in at point guard, averaging 8.5 points and a team-leading 5.8 rebounds per game. Bryant also leads the 'Cats with 18 assists.

The Loggers are averaging 74.3 points and 42.9 rebounds per game. Sophomore Paul Johnson has carried the load offensively, scoring 21.3 points per game to go with 3.8 rebounds per game and 14 assists. Johnson is shooting 47.9 percent from the field, 45 percent from three-point range and 80 percent from the free throw line. Senior Cal Hansen is also scoring in double figures, averaging a double-double of 12.7 points and 10 rebounds per game. Hansen is second on the team with 18 assists.
 
LEWIS & CLARK AT A GLANCE
The Pioneers are shooting 48.2 percent from the field and 35.9 percent from beyond the arc, averaging 88 points per game. Junior Brenden Patrick leads the team offensively with 18.2 points per game on 62.3 percent shooting from the field, 42.9 percent from outside and 81.8 percent from the free throw line. Senior Jalen Lowery is averaging 11 points and 6.4 rebounds per game while junior Jack Henderson is contributing 10 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.
 
HISTORY
Linfield and Puget Sound have met 51 times with the Loggers leading the series with a 31-20 record over the Wildcats. The 'Cats are 20-28 against the Loggers in NWC play and 6-19 in Tacoma. The 'Cats won both meetings in 2019-20 by scores of 86-76 in Tacoma and 96-69 in McMinnville.
 
Linfield and Lewis & Clark have met 109 times. The Pioneers lead the series with a 60-49 record. The 'Cats are 45-55 against the Pioneers in Northwest Conference play and 26-26 at home. The 'Cats won seven of the last eight meetings. They swept the season series in 2019-20, winning 70-57 in McMinnville and 95-66 in Portland.

T-MOBILE T-SHIRT PROMOTION
T-Mobile is teaming up with the Linfield basketball teams for a special promotion on Saturday night that includes T-shirts for the first 400 fans in attendance for the doubleheader against Lewis & Clark.

As part of the themed "Got Net?" promotion, fans are encouraged to arrive early to Ted Wilson Gymnasium to claim their T-shirt at the T-Mobile kiosk. The women's game tips off at 4 p.m. with the men's game following at 6 p.m.
