CLAREMONT, Calif. – All three Linfield runners clocked top-60 finishes at the NCAA Division III Cross Country West Region Championships, hosted by Occidental at Pomona College's cross country course.
 
Freshman Alex Oathout represented the Linfield men, finishing in 60^th place out of 170 student-athletes. He turned in a time of 26 minutes, 58.3 seconds. Making his collegiate debut in 2021, Oathout led the Wildcats in all five of the races he competed in, including a 34^th-place finish at the Northwest Conference Championships.
 
A dynamic duo for the Linfield women all season long, sophomore Jennifer Torres Bermudez and junior Makayla Erickson also turned in impressive performances in a field of 150 competitors. Torres Bermudez finished in 54^th place in a time of 24:05.6 while Erickson wasn't far behind, placing 58^th at 24:11.0.
 
Torres Bermudez and Erickson paced the Wildcats in 2021. A two-time NWC Women's Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week, Torres Bermudez finished in 18^th place at the NWC Championships while Erickson placed 20^th.
 
Pomona-Pitzer claimed the men's West Region title while Claremont-Mudd-Scripps ran away with the women's title. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps' Stevie Steinberg finished in first place in the men's race while Genevieve DiBari of Pomona-Pitzer finished first on the women's side.
