SALEM, Ore. – Jennifer Torres Bermudez and
Makayla Erickson blazed to a 1-2 finish for the Linfield Wildcats Saturday morning at Bush's Pasture Park. The two Wildcats spurred Linfield to a 24-31 victory over Northwest Conference rival Willamette.
Torres Bermudez claimed the race title, covering the five-kilometer course in 19 minutes, 28 seconds. Erickson followed closely behind, ending as runner-up in a time of 19:45.
Linfield's women also nabbed the 6-7-8-9 positions, led by
Abby Grebisz who claimed sixth place in 20:45.
Kaylee Delzotti was seventh (20:47),
Ashley Ambrose was eighth (20:51), and
Amber Chaffee cross the finish line in ninth place (20:56).
On the men's side,
Alex Oathout and
Calvin Cahill were the frontrunners for Linfield. Oathout clocked 26:14 over the eight-kilometer course to capture second place. Cahill was fourth in 27:08.
Other top finishers for the Wildcats included
Bradley Kiltow, who was sixth in 27:19,
Calvin Ong, seventh in 27:26, and
John Christian, ninth in 28:08.
Willamette's men edged Linfield for top team honors, winning by a 27-28 count.
