'Cats seek redemption against Loggers, Lutes in Tacoma

THE RECORDS
Entering the week, Linfield is 1-9-1 overall with a 0-6-1 Northwest Conference mark as the Wildcats open the second half of conference play. Puget Sound is 4-5-2 overall and 3-2-1 in NWC play while Pacific Lutheran sits atop the NWC standings at 9-3-0 with a  6-1-0 conference mark.
 
LINFIELD AT A GLANCE
The Wildcats are averaging 0.82 goals per game and lead the Northwest Conference with 6.42 saves per game. Freshman midfielder Seamus Miller is the Wildcats' leading scorer with three goals and ranks second in the NWC with 2.57 shots per game. Junior forward Cesar Cruz-Espindola has two goals and an assist on the season and is second on the team to Miller with 13 shots, five on goal. Junior Julian Inches is starting to solidify his presence in goal. Inches leads the NWC with 4.78 saves per game, is fifth with a .705 save percentage and seventh with a 2.81 goals against average.
 
PUGET SOUND AT A GLANCE
The Loggers rank third in the Northwest Conference with 1.20 goals allowed per game and fifth with 1.30 goals per game. Senior Cale Spence and junior Marko Babiak lead the team with four goals apiece. Senior Ryan Smith has three goals on the season and leads the NWC with 2.90 shots per game. Sophomore Andrew Matheny is 4-4-1 in goal and is tied for the conference lead with four shutouts while also ranking second with a .786 save percentage and a 1.02 goals against average.
 
PACIFIC LUTHERAN AT A GLANCE
The first-place Lutes are dynamic on both sides of the field, leading the Northwest Conference with 36 goals, 26 assists and 98 points while also ranking first with 0.50 goals allowed per game. The Lutes have 11 players who have scored two or more goals this season, led by sophomore Craig Johnson, who is third in the NWC with six goals and second with five assists. Fellow sophomore Brandt Kelly has five goals and two assists while senior Keeton Heggerness has four goals and one assist. Sophomore Nicholas Gaston is 7-3-0 in goal and leads the NWC with four shutouts, a .793 save percentage and a 0.69 goals against average.
 
HISTORY
Puget Sound leads the series with Linfield with a 35-11-3 record. The Loggers won 18 straight meetings until the Wildcats forced a 2-2 tie in their first matchup of 2021 on Oct. 3 in McMinnville. Linfield has lost eight straight matches against Pacific Lutheran as the Lutes lead the series at 27-19-3. The Lutes took the first meeting in 2021, winning 3-0 on Oct. 2, also in McMinnville.
