Nolan Mickenham

Freshman takes center stage at Erik Anderson Icebreaker

McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Linfield freshman Nolan Mickenham won the men's 100- and 200-meter dashes, and senior Keaton Wood was victorious in the 110 hurdles, highlighting a spirited day of action at the Linfield Erik Anderson Memorial Icebreaker at Maxwell Field.
 
The first outdoor meet of the 2020 track and field season featured a mixture of rain showers, a burst of hail together occasional patches of blue sky. The focus was on individual results and as such, team scores were not compiled.
 
MEN
Mickenham was impressive in his outdoor collegiate debut, blazing to a 10.99 finish in the 100 meters. He added a 22.31 clocking in the 200, both winning times by considerable margins.
 
Wood finished the 110 hurdles in 15.81 seconds. Newcomer Jacob Klemme placed ninth in 17.61 and fellow freshman Chandler Morris claimed ninth place in the 400 in 52.63.
 
Ronan Krutzikowsky earned third place in the pole vault with a mark of 13 feet, 5¼ inches. He edged teammate Kolby Bautista by virture of fewer misses at the same height. In between vault attempts, Krutzikowsky managed to place third in the 400 hurdles (1:00.18).
 
Matt Metcalf sewed up seventh place in the hammer with a mark of 132-0. Grant Jackson was 11th (117-8) and Julien Sears took 13th in the same event (105-6). Tyler Post was seventh in the shot put (39-6½).
 
In the javelin, Metcalf nailed down fourth place with a toss of 178-6. Freshman Lucas Cruz ended ninth overall at 151-4.
 
Brothers Mason Lommen and Max Lommen were sixth and ninth, respectively, in the high jump. Younger sibling Mason leapt 5-11¼, two inches better than big brother Max, who cleared 5-9¼. In the triple jump, freshman Bryce Law placed fifth.
 
WOMEN
Meg Angier was runner-up in the pole vault with a mark of 10-10. Teammate Emma Barker went 8-10¼ to take ninth place.
 
Morgan Chamberlain place seventh in the javelin with a heave of 114-11, a noteworthy achievement considering that the Icebreaker was the Linfield senior's first competition in 14 months.
 
Juliet Arnswald captured fifth place in the 400 hurdles in 1:16.01 and Meghan McGrath was seventh in the shot put (34-7¾).
 
Ashley Ambrose paced a strong effort by the Linfield distance corps. Ambrose was fourth in the 10,000 on Friday night while Amber Chaffee secured 14th place the 1,500 in 5:12.77. Kelsey Kuhns was 10th in the 5,000 in 19:56.21.
 
In the discus, freshmen Kes Sandstrom and Megan Pallas placed 12th (105-8) and 14th (99-6), respectively.
