McMINNVILLE, ORE. – After nine innings that lasted more than three hours, the Linfield Wildcats fell to the Pacific Boxers 14 to 6 at Roy Helser Field on Monday night. The non-conference game was previously scheduled for last Tuesday but was moved to this week due to weather. The loss drops the Wildcats to 7-29 overall. Pacific improves to 24-16 and will travel to Spokane next weekend for the Northwest Conference Tournament.
RECAP
- Pacific struck in the first inning with a grand slam. Trevor Quinn crushed a towering fly ball over the wall in center to put the Boxers up 4-0.
- The 'Cats put a run on the board in the bottom of the inning. Tanner Earhart hit a single to right and brought in Alec Cook from second to make it 4-1.
- The Boxers would add two more runs in the second and led 6-1.
- Linfield would chip at the Pacific lead when Ayden Allen hit an RBI single to left followed by a single from Cameron Fox that brought in Allen making it 7-4.
- Pacific would extend its lead in the fifth with four more runs highlighted by a two-RBI single from Quinn.
- The 'Cats would push two more runs across in the game. A double to left field by Jacob Campos brought in Allen. In the sixth it would be Allen with the double to left field bringing home Tanner Earhart.
- The Boxers extended their lead in the top of the 8th as Warren was hit by a pitch with bases loaded. Pacific added two more run in the top of the 9th off of back-to-back sacrifice flies to center field making it's a 14-6 ball game.
