WALLA WALLA, WASH. – The Linfield Wildcats (11-11) traveled to Washington to take on #22 Whitman (17-4) in the Sherwood Athletic Center on February 9
th. Last time the two teams squared off in McMinnville, Linfield fell to the Blues. The Blues managed to edge the 'Cats 63-72 in Washington.
'Cat stats
Molly Danielson and
Kory Oleson lead the way for the 'Cats as they each scored 18 points in the 'Cats loss. Danielson picked up her 11
th double-double of the season as she pulled down 12 rebounds. Adding 11 points and three rebounds was
Cassidy Schutz.
Cameron Reuter also added seven points for the Wildcats. The 'Cats forced 15 turnovers on the Blues and totaled seven steals.
Blues' stats
Mady Burdett had a game high of 20 points in 32 minutes of play. While Makana Stone added 19 points and five rebounds for the Blues. Maegen Martin managed 11 points and 10 rebounds in 26 minutes of play. The Blues shot 45.3% from the field and recorded 19 assists.
1st Half
The 'Cats took an early lead as
Cassidy Schutz drained a three from the right side. However, the Blues went on a seven-point run till a left-handed layup by
Kory Oleson cut Whitman's momentum.
Maggie Smith was fouled as the buzzer rang but drained both of her free-throw to cut the Blues lead to eight points heading into the second quarter. Whitman went on six-point run half way through the second quarter to increase their lead to ten-points. Back-to-back jumpers by Danielson and Oleson cut the Blues lead.
2nd Half
Whitman was able to keep their momentum from the first half as they came out scoring in their first possession of the third quarter. The 'Cats were able to close the gap as Danielson converted on a three-point play and then added two more points as
Cameron Reuter found her under the basket. The Blues went on a six-point run and increased their lead to 13-points with under two minutes to play in the third. Layups by
Hanna Bingham and Oleson cut the Blues lead to nine with a quarter to play. With six-minutes left to play
Jordyn Feinauer found Schutz under the basket to make cut the Blues lead to four-points. A nine-point run by the Blues increased their lead to twelve points. Linfield responded with a four-point run of their own to close the gap to seven with 34 seconds left to play.

th for their last home game of the season as they take on George Fox at 6:00 p.m. in Ted Wilson.
