Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Redlands hands Linfield lopsided loss at Tipoff Classic

REDLANDS, Calif.- Day 2 of the Redlands Tipoff Classic saw the Linfield Wildcats fall to the tournament host Redlands Bulldogs 94-69. Linfield struggled to get many shots to fall inside Currier Gym on Saturday night, shooting under 40 percent for the game.

The Wildcats trailed early as the Bulldogs went up by 12 points midway through the first half. Redlands' lead reached 21 points by the intermission and the Bulldogs never looked back.

"It was a very disappointing day for us," said Wildcats coach Shanan Rosenberg. "We got outplayed and outcoached in every phase of the game."

"We were extremely flat and mindless for most of the game against an excellent team who played extremely well," said Rosenberg. "I'm confident we will grow a lot from this and be much better next time we hit the floor. We have an excellent team that just laid an ugly egg against a Redlands team that played outstanding."

Senior Grant Gibb was the high scorer for Linfield with 18 points on 50 percent shooting. No other Linfield player reached double digit in the scoring column. Dempsey Roggenbuck contributed eight points in 19 minutes.

Austin Hilton was perfect from the field, hitting all three of his shots for six points to go along with five rebounds, one assist and one steal. Tanner Autencio added another six points and three steals on the defensive end of the floor.

Coming off a 30-point night in Linfield's come back win against Whittier on Friday, Will Burghart wasn't able to get much of anything going in Saturday's loss with one point. Aaron Baune had seven points off the bench in a tough shooting night for the Wildcats.

Chase McClain, who finished with seven points, was one of three freshmen to make their debut in the defeat. Braden Thorn had three rebounds and one assist. Alex Jaczko missed on his lone field goal attempt.

Max Lommen scored five points off the bench while Eythan Henry and Matt Berger each chipped in with four. Senior Aidan Phizackerly hit his only attempt from the field in the game, a three-pointer.

"I'm proud of many of our bench players that gave a great effort," said Rosenberg.

Jack Roggin led the Bulldogs in scoring with 19 points, one of four players with double-digit points. David Menary had 12 points and seven assists, both game-highs.
