Linfield continues hot start against Evergreen State

FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Behind 49 points from two of the top four scorers in the Northwest Conference, the Linfield Wildcats defeated the Evergreen State Geoducks, 76-62 to win both games at the Ken Schumann Classic and start the season 4-1.

Molly Danielson fell one short of her career-high with 27 points and Kory Oleson added 22. Oleson raised her career total to 1,001 points, with 951 of those points coming at Linfield and the other 50 coming at Western Oregon University during her freshman season.

Linfield trailed 6-4 early in the first half, but thanks to a jumper by Oleson and a jumper by Delaney Ragan, Linfield took an 8-6 lead and it did not trail for the rest of the game.

The Wildcats outscored the Geoducks in the first three quarters to extend their lead to 20 points after three quarters, but the Geoducks were able to cut into the lead trailing by 14 at the final buzzer. The largest lead for the Wildcats was 21, coming in the third quarter.

Danielson had 27 points and 11 rebounds, which was her fourth double-double this season. She is among the NWC leaders, third in points per game with 20 and second in rebounds with 12.

Oleson had 17 or more points for the fourth straight game, also grabbing eight rebounds on Saturday afternoon. The West, Linn, Oregon, native is in the top four with 19.6 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game.

Ragan had 11 points, six rebounds and six assists for the Wildcats, while Jordyn Feinauer had five points, two rebounds and two assists and Cassidy Schutz hit a three-pointer and three assists.

Off the bench, senior Hanna Bingham made her first appearance of the season and Shasta Lofgren added four points, Paige LaFountain added three and Brooke Landis added one.

Megan Miller, Alexis Heald, Jordan Worthington and Janessa Yniguez appeared in the game for the Wildcats in the fourth quarter.

Linfield is off to its best start since 2015-16, when the Wildcats started 5-1 in the first season under coach Casey Bunn-Wilson.
