Oleson scores season-high 19 in loss to the Yotes

MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – Being down three points with just over three minutes left in the game, the College of Idaho Yotes scored 10 of the final 13 points to win this one 70-66 over the Linfield Wildcats. Kory Oleson led the way for the Wildcats with season high 19 points.
 
In a rare occurrence where the Yotes and the Wildcats will meet two times this season, the Yotes take the first meeting. Linfield will play at the College of Idaho on November 30.
 
Linfield got off to a big start, leading as high as six in the first quarter via a layup by Alexis Heald, but the Yotes were able to cut into the lead trailing by four after the first 10 minutes.
 
The Wildcats were looking to go on the big run to distance themselves from the Yotes all game, but there were not able to do so. Leading by five in the second quarter on a layup by Delaney Ragan, who had 16 points on Thursday night, she's had 16 point in each of her three collegiate games.
 
The Yotes took the 36-35 lead at halftime, via a three-pointer with less than a minute to go in the second quarter.
 
Reigning Northwest Conference Student-Athlete of the Week, Molly Danielson had another strong game with 13 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and two steals with a layup by Danielson, the Wildcats took their largest lead of the night with three and a half minutes left in the third quarter.


 
Trailing by three going into the final period, the College of Idaho outscored Linfield 17-10 in the fourth quarter including a 10-3 to close out the game, which included a three-minute span in the fourth quarter where neither team scored a point.
 
The College of Idaho tied the game at 65 with a three-pointer by Mackenzie Royce-Radford and took the lead on a layup by Royce-Radford, who was the reigning Cascade Collegiate Conference Student-Athlete of the Week.
 
Oleson stuffed the stat sheet with 19 points, five rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks. The West Lipp, Oregon, native fouled-out of the game with 14 seconds left.
 
Cassidy Schutz contributed six rebounds, four assists and career-high three steals to go along with four points, while Jordyn Feinauer five points. Shasta Lofgren added five points off the bench for the Wildcats, who had nine bench points.
 
The Wildcats forced 13 steals and capitalized 26 points off turnovers and 10 fastbreak points.
 
Linfield loses its first game of the season to fall to 2-1, while the College of Idaho picks up its first win to improve to 1-3.

The Linfield Wildcats head to Forest Grove, Oregon to participate in the Ken Schumman Classic next weekend taking on Evergreen State on Friday at 2 p.m. and Warner Pacific on Saturday at 2 p.m.
