Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Kuehn leads 'Cats past Banana Slugs

McMINNVILLE, Ore. -- It was a good night for the Linfield Women's Soccer team and junior forward, Sydney Kuehn on Wednesday night as Linfield defeated UC- Santa Cruz  2-1. Keuhn would score both goals for Linfield in a strong performance to round off an impressive opening homestead for the women.

Linfield would get on the board first in the 16th minute as Lexi Kerr continued her own hot start and played a beautiful through ball in to Keuhn. Sydney was able to slot one home pass Goalkeeper Allie Mandel for her second goal of the season.

Tomiko Hoshjima was able to get the Banana Slugs back into it early in the second half. The midfielder got into a collision with Linfield keeper Madi Reimer and was able to score an open net goal.

Kuehn was able to save the game late though on a corner kick. Junior Natalie Amara played in a lovely cross into the middle of the box and Kuehn was able to get her head on it and play it over the defenders head into the back of the net. Kuehn has now scored three goals in her last three games and ties Junior Amidee Colleknon for the team lead.

Allie Mandel had a valiant effort in defeat as she was able to make 11 saves on 21 shots from Linfield. Madi Reimer had three saves on six shots faced.
