McMINNIVILLE, ORE— The Linfield, Wildcats tied the Pacific, Boxers 1-1 in a physical battle on Saturday in McMinnville. Both teams came into the contest looking for their first win in the Northwest Conference after dropping their first two conference matches of the year.
Linfield got on the board first after a long, flipping throw-in by Freshman
Ronan Krutzikowsky was headed home by Sophomore
Luke Marks in the 10th minute. The goal was Marks' second goal of his career and his first this season. The assist was Krutzikowsky's third of the campaign.
Pacific continued to apply pressure all throughout the match on Linfield and created a bevy of chances. The Boxers would dominate the shot totals, accruing 16 total shots (11 on target) compared to Linfield's 10 (four on target). Linfield handled the pressure well and looked like they would take the three points after a red card on Pacific's Brycen Lee. But Forward Robert Nurmi would strike late for Pacific in the 88th minute to send the match into overtime. Neither side could find the score sheet in the extra time with both teams creating a lot of chances with Pacific down to 10 men.
Sophomore,
Cameron Perron was spectacular in net for the Wildcats making 10 saves after receiving his second straight start in net. Freshman Brock Jones made three saves in net for the Boxers.
